This summer Sam and I went to an event called Minis On Top where there were almost 250 MINI COOPERS! We caravanned with a group of wonderful Minis from Albany out to New Hampshire. Everywhere you looked there were Minis in every color. We met put a lot of miles on my car, but we met lots of great people. In single file all the Coopers climbed 6,288 feet to the top of Mt. Washington, and we received our notorious bumper sticker “This car climbed Mt Washington.”

While we were driving we saw a ton of funny moose crossing signs. I don’t know why I thought they were funny, but they were. They read “Break for Moose. It could save your life.” We were hoping to see a moose and we did. And it wasn’t so funny when it darted across the road in front of a motor cycle that lead one of our caravans Fast little buggers for such a giant mammoth.

There are thousands of antique stores in upstate NY with tons of great vintage items waiting to be discovered. I love rummaging through dusty, old things, wondering who wore this or used that. Back-in-the-day products were actually made with real, natural materials like wood, cooper, slate, stone, and metal. Ya know the saying, “they just don’t make things like they use to” – well it’s true, they don’t.

Anyway, I will find any excuse to go antique shopping. So, when my mom said she wanted to buy me an antique bedroom set I didn’t put up a fight.

My dad recently bought a fully restored 1966 Chevy red truck – I guess he’s cool now. Sam and my dad are big car guys, and they share a love of antique cars. So, Last weekend my dad, Sam, and sister’s boyfriend dragged me, my sister and mom to the Rhinebeck Antique Car ShowI was ecstatic I was there for the free lunch.

I mean what heel-loving; make-up wearing chick doesn’t love a good car show with grease monkeys, dirty/rusty car parts, revving engines, and smelly exhaust.
