This past weekend I took a few steps toward adult hood by moving out of my apartment in downtown Albany and into to my parent’s house in Columbia County. I’m sure many of you are thinking …well that’s two steps backward, right? However six months ago Sam and I submitted an offer on a house.
Just one problem the house was listed as “third party approval” – a short sale. Unlink the title suggests the sale is by no means “short.”
Sam and I did our research on short sales and knew what we were getting into. We found the perfect home (at half the price) in the quiet country setting of Averill Park. When we thought the coast was clear we told our landlord that after five years we were moving out – we gave him two months notice. Well my friends those two months have come and gone and we are still without a closing date.

I’m sure you’ve been on the roads in Albany and know that there are pot holes out there that could swallow your car whole and can do some serious damage.
But that is not what the post is about…
Sam was storing his BMW in a garage around the corner from us on Jefferson, and a few weeks ago the roof collapsed from the snow (a recurring theme this winter). Good thing he kept the insurance on it. The garage owner didn’t have the same luck.
To add salt to his wounds the building was deemed “unsafe” by the Albany Police and fire department, so Sam and I had to stand and watch as the building was demolished with his car inside.
