My dad, being the cool guy he is, gave me baseball tickets to Fenway in Boston, MA. I know Citizens Bank laid me off and all, but atleast their good for something, right? Thankfully, my dad is still employed there, and he got four fee tickets. We were six seats back from the field, directly between first base and right field. I could smell the grass, and I could almost make-out Derek Jeter’s nose hairs, too bad my camera doesn’t have a good zoom. We even got asked to have our picture taken, and they posted the pic on their website, only to discover the friendly gesture was obviously a scheme to buy the picture. Sam and I are thinking about purchasing the “14×18 Commemorative Etched Glass Frame with 24k Gold Overlay Team Coin & Minted Bronze Coin with Field dirt” for only $399.99. Sam’s brother and fiance came with us, see David and Jenna’s pic.
Every year, for I don’t know how long, I have gone to see the Yankees play at Yankee stadium, but I have never been fortunate enough to watch the Yankees versus their number one rival team, the Boston Red Sox. I was forewarned before the game, not to wear any Yankee apparel for fear of being jumped. Luckily, our seats were nestled between a few other Yankee fans, who bravely cheered with me and sported their NY Yankee ball cap.
For those of you who don’t follow baseball, the Red Sox allegedly broke the “curse of the Bambino” in 2004 by winning the World Series for the first time since 1918. I’m not superstitious or anything, but there’s something about the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees that really makes me wonder. For example, a Red Sox fan tried to jinx the Yankees by burying a Boston team jersey under the new Yankee Stadium. Perhaps it’s the mutual feeling of hatred between both teams that provokes the curse in the first place.
Currently, the Red Sox are 8-0 this season agianst the Yankees, and of course, Boston has to brag all over town about it. A clip from ESPN:
“It’s the first time the Red Sox have opened the season with eight straight wins against their New York rivals since they helped christen the brand-new Fenway Park by winning the first 14 match-ups against the Highlanders in 1912.”
Sadly, the Yankees lost to Boston Thursday night. Maybe, we jinxed our beloved team by leaving the game when it started to rain in the eight inning [just as they were starting to win]. Alex Rodriguez helped them take the lead, but as swiftly as the Yankee scored, it was over, and Boston took the victory 4-3. The loud opposing crowed and rain made the night eventful. Not to mention, I wore heels to a baseball game, and I’m not even a heel person! My feet ached, and I had a ton of blisters. Half way through our fifteen minute walk back to the car, I stripped my feet and walked barefoot through Boston in the rain.

Stadium food is always over priced, but we had our helpings of sausage & peppers, peanuts, clam chowder, pretzels, beer and wine. We even stopped on the way back for a perfectly topped pizza:

basil, petso, portabella mushrooms, tomotoes, & mozzeralla cheese
