This one painful.
Everyday my lovely boyfriend, Sam, reminds me how clumsy I am- or just how blonde I am. Usually, these blonde moments are harmless, like dropping the soap in the shower five times or in the morning when my hair brush falls into the cat box. Hey, who cares if there is a little cat terd in your hair- right?
My most recent blonde moment was damaging- to my MINI. Five days after I brought my MINI home a large dent mysteriously appeared on the passenger door. A hundred and forty bucks later it was gone. Several months later I found a rickety old truck parked ridiculously close to my MINI and two small nicks on the rear bumper. Some may call it bad Karma and others may say it’s just plain bad luck.
So, as I was happily parking my car on the side of the road, I stopped to read a sign that had been posted on a telephone pole, “NO parking 7:30 am- 6pm Monday 18th- Friday 29th.” Since, I am not a morning person I decided that I better park my MINI elsewhere. As I back up I hear “crunch”- I hit a truck that was not parked behind me 30 seconds before. Inronically it was not just any truck, but the rickety old truck that left the two nicks. After several seconds that seemed like eternity, I rolled down my window and a slightly overweight hippy with a scruffy beard says, “Sorry to sneak up on you there. My truck is already bumped and bruised, so…I’m OK” and he walks away. GREAT!
As God’s frozen tear drops of laughter fall from the sky and hit my windshield, I decided not to get out and look at the damage quite yet. After I find a more promising parking spot at the bottom of my street, I gather my things and slowly peer around the back of my MINI. I proceed to march up hill, screaming profanities as loud as I can to release the rush of anger and sadness burning through my body. Then the tears start, and as I sit on the bathroom floor, my face buried in a dirty towel, Sam assures me that the damage can be fixed easily and inexpensively. Since, I stand to receive 1,500 dollars back in taxes, the money will go to no better use than to fix my bruised and now imperfect MINI.
